Silver Skate By Night

Battle of the Neighbourhoods Featured

Battle of the Neighbourhoods is one of Silver Skate Festival’s newest culinary tented events.

A Friendly, First of its Kind Culinary and Beer Competition between Four of Edmonton's Popular Neighbourhoods. Who will win the title of BEST Food & Brewery Neighbourhood? You be the judge! All Ages Welcome!

Entrance to the event is free. Edmontonians will be able to purchase tickets in advance on Eventbrite for $35.00 each. Each advanced purchased ticket will give them the opportunity to enjoy generous samples of stew, bread and beer from each one of the neighbourhoods, live musical entertainment, as well as one entry to the Ice Castle located across the way. There will be a very limited number of tickets available at the door.  $35.00 tickets purchased at the door will not include a pass for the Ice Castle. Extra beer will be available for purchase from each neighbourhoods’ brewery.

Please Note: Minors will not be served beer samples.

Last year’s challenge was an Alberta winter staple: Stew! Each neighbourhood will have to pair with it the perfect beer and bread. The catch? They must include as many locally sourced ingredients as possible.

Neighbourhoods and businesses participating:

  • Odd Company Brewing
  • Iconoclast Coffee Roasters
  • Brio Bakery

  • Blind Enthusiasm Brewery
  • Biera

  • Campio Brewing Co

Old Strathcona

  • Alley Kat Brewing
  • Under the High Wheel
  • Bonjour Bakery

The competition will be judged by Twyla Campbell, Phil Wilson (Baconhound), Sharon Yeo, and Rebecca Reid (yegfoodie) as well as one or two other surprise guest judges.

The public will get to vote on the best all around neighbourhood entry. One ballot per ticket purchased.
