VISSIA [VISS-ee-ya] likes her whiskey straight and her guitar crunchy. With a penchant for belting it out and telling it like it is, Vissia lets her prairie upbringing and no-nonsense attitude come through in her skillful, honest songwriting and powerful voice. As fresh and crisp as Alberta mountain dew, yet as tastefully gritty as the rocks it falls on, Vissia's sound will grab you by the ears and punch you in the heart.
Based in Edmonton, Vissia has been building an audience around Canadian coffee shops, music clubs and festival stages since her debut album in 2011 (A Lot Less Gold; November 2011). She has had the pleasure of sharing stages with artists like Del Barber, Lindi Ortega, Whitehorse, Russel de Carle, Matt Anderson, The Skydiggers, and Harry Stinson. Her performances have included stages at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival (2013), Canmore Folk Music Festival (2013), Beaumont Blues & Roots Festival (2014), as well as hundreds of tour dates across Canada from coast to coast. Vissia has been featured on CBC Radio 2 Canada Live! (2012), and more recently, on CKUA Radio Network's TransCanada West live music series (2015) opening for Colleen Brown with a full set of songs, broadcast twice province-wide.
Vissia is currently working on her next full-length album, Place Holder.
