The Foothills Speed Skating Association will continue to host the marathon action on February 23 where skaters will be striding across the ice in Sylvan Lake, competing in the 50km race. The North American Championship races start on February 24 with a 25km race.  The speed skaters final and grueling test will be the 100 km. race on February 25 taking place in Sylvan Lake.  The community and Town of Sylvan Lake are very proud and excited to host the North American Marathon Speed Skating Championship and the speed skaters who will be visiting there growing town and the little winter speed skating village that is created track side on the lake.

The speed skaters who race in all five races will compete for the Alberta International Speed Skating Championship. The skaters with the total lowest combined times will win the aggregate awards.
