SILVER SKATE FESTIVAL 2011
NIGHT WORKS IN THE PARK 2011 February 18th to 20th, 2011 Hawrelak Park, Edmonton
Night Works in the Park, featuring our giant snow screen, has grow in popularity and continues to expand to include film festivals, live performances, dance and spectacles of light.
The snow screen doubles as a performance and presentation stage during the day and comes alive each night as the sun goes down over the majestic Hawrelak Park. In 2010 the Documentary & Independent Film Festival , DIFF, presented "Cool Screenings" on Friday and "24 Hours to ignition" a fire sculpture installation created a dramatic finale on Saturday. A dynamic line up performer s which included Vibe Tribe, Colleen Brown, the Viajante Drum group, aboriginal trio Asani, Martin Kerr, Paul Bellows, Krystle Dos Santo, grass dancer Leo Letandre and Trevor Chir wowed the crowds throughout the weekend.
February evenings might be chilly in Edmonton but winter heats up during Silver Skate Festival and Night Works In the Park, a multimedia extravaganza promises to be bigger and better in 2011.
